Abstract
Handwritten letter from Miss Gould, of West New Brighton, to Captain Thomas Melville, regarding her father, who is about to lose his place on a schooner where he has been employed as a steward for the last four years. She asks Melville if a place can be found for her father at Sailors' Snug Harbor and tells him that if a reference is needed, her uncle, Reverend J. M. Greene, can be contacted, or she can come herself.
