Abstract
Handwritten letter from R. Studwell, in the freight office of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Co., to Captain Thomas Melville, regarding a shipment the company forwarded by Deforest Express Co. and consigned to Melville on December 17, consisting of one boxed iron bed [possibly the bed mentioned in the receipt from December 16, 1878]. Studwell explains that while the collected freight and cartage fees, they have since learned that the freight was pre-paid and a refund is enclosed with the letter.
