Abstract
Handwritten letter from Porter & Wetmore, Produce Commission Merchants, to the Governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor, at the time Captain Thomas Melville. The writer mentions that the previous governor, Mr. De Peyster, ordered butter from Porter & Wetmore and asks to again provide butter to Sailors' Snug Harbor. The writer also states that they would like a "valise basket" if the inmates of Sailors' Snug Harbor make them.
