Abstract
Handwritten letter from Henry P. Marshall of the Seamen's Bank for Savings, to Captain Thomas Melville, regarding the matter of a Susannah Riley from Liverpool, who claims to be the beneficiary of the will of John Ackman [possibly Ackerman], believed to have been an inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor. Marshall requests any information that Melville might have, as Riley claims that Ackman had money in the Seamen's Bank for Savings and had gotten her information from "Mr Ford". In pencil on the back is the following note: "Mr Akman made a will in favor of his sister and app Mr Ford Executor. The will is now with Judge [name begins with W but is difficult to make out--perhaps Westervelt?]"
