September 9, 1934 - "This boat caught fire 8 miles out at sea off Asbury Park about 4 A.M. Sept. 8, 1934. It drifted in here at Convention Hall at Asbury Park at 7 P.M. on the same day. The boat is still burning inside when this was taken September 9 at 2 P.M.. Many bodies are still aboard including the captain who died 8 hours before the fire broke out. The ship was on its way to New York from Havana. It weighs 11,000 tons, length 504 feet."Type Of Resource
