[Whetten] Ehninger, to Captain Thomas Melville, regarding Ehninger's offer to paint a portrait of the late Captain De Peyster, [who was a previous Governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor], for the institution. In the letter, Ehninger writes that he recently painted the portrait of Charles Anthon for Columbia College.
