Handwritten letter from Miss A. L. P. Skillings, of Arlington, Massachusetts, to the Superintendent of Sailors' Snug Harbor, asking if John Smith is or has been an inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, potentially between the years of 1857-1864. She received a letter from the Snug Harbor requesting funds and to pay his expenses. She believes that he was under the command of Commodore Ransom at the time of his discharge from the Navy, but states that his word was not always reliable. Received while Captain Thomas Melville was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor.Type Of Resource
