Handwritten letter from Captain Thomas Melville, to R.B. [Robert Bennet] Forbes, of Sailors' Snug Harbor of Boston, regarding the letter Forbes sent about the man named John Reamer. Melville states that Reamer was at the institution for several years, and was last expelled in 1868. Melville states that Reamer is a good man sober, and his real fault is drinking, but believes his recent experiences have most likely made him a reformed man.
The collection is on permanent loan at the Stephen B. Luce Library of SUNY Maritime College. The Sailors' Snug Harbor records are the Property of the Trustees of the Sailors’ Snug Harbor.
