Abstract

Handwritten letter from Edmund B. Double, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor residing in an asylum [Hudson River State Hospital], to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, asking for additional red flannel underwear to be sent to him and requesting that Trask allow him to return to the Harbor, as he claims that the physicians at the "insane asylum" consider him to be of sound mind. A notation in red pencil confirms the underwear was sent.
