Identifier
SC-0016-I-D-1-B-117
Abstract
Handwritten letter from James O. Elliott, former inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, writing from the Hudson River State Hospital in Poughkeepsie, presumably sent to either Captain Ambrose Snow or the Trustees of the Harbor stating that he wants to be discharged from the Asylum, whether he returns to the Harbor or not, as he is of a sane mind. A note written perpendicularly to the text of the first page of the letter acknowledges receipt by Ambrose Snow. Received while Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor.
