SC-0016-I-D-1-B-118
Abstract
Handwritten letter from James O. Elliott, former inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor writing from the Hudson River State Hospital in Poughkeepsie, to the governor of the Harbor, claiming that the governor's refusal to acknowledge that Captain [Thomas L.?] Fleming had made an inappropriate comment to Elliott, which is the reason Elliott rebelled against the governor's leadership. He asks to be discharged from the asylum whether or not he returns to the Harbor and complains that he did not receive all the clothing that he sent for. Received while Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor.
