Handwritten letter from J. L. [Joseph Lockwood] Midwood, to Superintendent of Sailors' Snug Harbor, regarding an inmate named Francis H. Field. Midwood asks, on behalf of Field's son, whether or not Field is still alive, and, if not, for his date of death to be sent to him. Received while Captain Thomas Melville was governor of Sailors’ Snug Harbor.
