Abstract

Handwritten letter from Rev. Wm. B. [William Black] Yates, Chaplain, Port Society of Charleston, to Joseph Melville, regarding the application of Captain Geo. [George] Londrick for Sailors' Snug Harbor. Yates states that Londrick is a "worthy and worn-out sailor", and recommends him to the harbor. Yates also states that he wishes to provide any papers that Londrick might need for his application.

[Cataloger's Note: The letter is addressed to a "Joseph Melville", where the author presumably was trying to get the letter to Thomas Melville.

The letter is written on the back of a typed letter from the Port Society of Charleston asking for donations to help fund the institution.]
