Handwritten letter from Ongnip Heiland [sp?], to the Superior of Sailors' Snug Harbor, which is written entirely in German. A Ludwig Heiland [sp?] and a John Perry are mentioned in the letter. Attached is the original envelope that the letter was presumably sent in. Received while Captain Thomas Melville was governor of Sailors’ Snug Harbor.
