Abstract
Handwritten correspondence regarding the personal effects of Benjamin R. Mclaurin, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, particularly between Mclaurin and Sailors' Snug Harbor steward Joseph K. Clark, and between Clark and Sailors' Snug Harbor governor Gustavus D. S. Trask. A letter from Mclaurin to Clark dated April 7, 1888, requests that his effects be forwarded to Mr. Lindlay Blythwood, of New Brighton and that Bob [Robert B.] Childs has promised he will take them up for Mclaurin. There are three attached lists of belongings, one witnessed by Childs and W. [William] O. Putnam. There is also a memo regarding Mclaurin's effects, mentioning Childs taking some items, signed by Clark, and finally a letter from Clark to Trask, dated August 23, 1888, describing the various items in the packet of correspondence.
