Handwritten letter from John M. Richards, former inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, writing from the S. S. Alliance [sp?] in Newport News, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, stating that during his time at the Harbor, he was treated well and is grateful for that care. He states that there were inmates who were unthankful and rebellious and he is sorry to hear that such an inmate made an attack upon Trask.
