Abstract

Handwritten letter from George Mitchell, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, regarding his visit to Dr. [Henry DeWitt] Joy the previous day regarding his eyes. Dr. Joy informed him that he should see Dr. Bull but Mitchell has had previous interactions with Dr. Bull and does not believe that he will be helpful. He would prefer to visit Dr. Knap [sic] of Broadway and Eleventh streets. Mitchell believes Dr. Joy is unhappy with him for taking medicine that was sent to Mitchell by his nephew, who "is in the business at St. Paul's Minn."
