Abstract

Handwritten letter from August Nyland, former inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, describing the circumstances of his expulsion from the Harbor for an act of which he claims innocence [bribery?]. He claims that he is disabled and unable to earn a livelihood and begs Trask to intercede for him with the trustees regarding readmission.
