Handwritten letter from Rev. C. C. Proffitt to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, asking if there is a nam by the name of Henry Brown, formerly the captain of the ship S. J. Carlton, residing at the Harbor. Brown's wife, Matilda, is anxious to hear from her husband, whom she has not seen in five years. Their son is now twelve years old and Proffitt hopes someone can give him information about Brown. Received while Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor. [Cataloger's note: It appears that this is Reverend Charles Calvin Proffitt but that has not been confirmed.]
