Abstract
Handwritten letter from John J. Blackstock, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, resigning his position as captain of houses D and E. He states that during the six years that he has been in that position, he has always tried to perform his duties to Trask's satisfaction, but that he is suffering from poor health and regrets that he feels he must resign. A notation on the letter appears to be a copy of Trask's reply, accepting Blackstock's resignation effective on the 15th.
