Abstract

Handwritten letter from David P. Sherry, former inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, informing him that he intends to apply to the board of trustees for readmission to the Harbor. He says that his dismissal was due to his own foolishness and the ensuing misery has shown him how foolish he was. He acknowledges his mistake and asks for Trask's forgiveness and intercession on his behalf.
