Abstract
Handwritten letter from Lieutenant Edward Hagerup, of the Royal Norwegian Navy, to Captain Thomas Melville, regarding a story that he has heard was published in an American newspaper about Ferdinand Wilhelm Maria Julius Kühle, an inmate of the Sailors' Snug Harbor, who was said to have regained his sight after many years of blindness. Lieutenant Hagerup wishes to know if the story is true, as he has an uncle by that name who was blind and a resident of Sailors' Snug Harbor and wonders if it is the same person.
