Identifier
SC-0016-III-A-1-0080
Abstract
Handwritten letter from Peter Kelley [possibly Kelly] to Captain Thomas Melville, requesting confirmation of which of Thomas Daignew's [Thomas P. Dagnew] eyes was "destroyed and was blind" when Dagnew was admitted into Sailors' Snug Harbor. He asks Melville to provide this information without Dagnew's knowledge. Kelley appears to be on trial for injuring and blinding Dagnew but believes that Dagnew was blind in one eye before Kelley hit him in "self-defense."
