Abstract
Handwritten letter from James E. Cole to Captain Thomas Melville. Cole states that Captain J. B. Bell left Sailors' Snug Harbor the previous week, with the intention of arriving in Glens Falls the following day. His roommate, "Rolfe" accompanied him into the city and got him to a streetcar, with instructions where to leave the streetcar, but said that Bell had a poor memory and had been drinking. Cole explains that he has just received a letter from Glens Falls directed to Captain Bell, postmarked the Saturday after Bell was supposed to have arrived there, and believes that Bell may have "gone astray somewhere and needs looking after."
