Abstract
Handwritten letter of recommendation from David Terry, of the Mission Rooms of the Methodist Episcopal Church at 805 Broadway, New York, NY, to the Governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor, presumably received by Captain Thomas Melville. Terry writes that the bearer of the letter, Christopher Lamm, is an "old sailor of many years," has served their society as a janitor for "some ten years," and is of excellent character. He expresses his hope that Lamm may recover so that he can resume his position.
