Abstract
Handwritten letter from Governor Thomas Melville to Thomas McCormick, of the Richmond County Poor House, regarding the inmate "Adam Lake" referred to in the letter of Ambrose Snow of July 13, 1878. Melville writes that he "suppose[s]" that Adam Lake is actually Thomas Hazelton, a former inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor. If this is the case, Melville states that Hazelton may be returned to the Sailors' Snug Harbor Hospital, where he will be cared for.
