Abstract
Handwritten letter from J. H. Doyle, of the Erie Railway Company, to Captain Thomas Melville, which appears to be a response to an enquiry by Melville. Doyle writes that Mr. William Nelson, of Buffalo, adopted Charles T. [?] Hoffman, son of Horace Hoffman, when he was three months old and that he has been with that family ever since. They wish to know if Hoffman was buried at Sailors' Snug Harbor and if he left any possessions, which should be sent to Mr. Nelson.
