Abstract
Handwritten file copy of a letter from Governor Thomas Melville to Dr. H. [Horace] A. Buttolph, of the New Jersey State Asylum for the Insane, Morris Plains, N.J., regarding E. [Edward] W. Hayes and stating that as long as Hayes remains at the asylum, Sailors' Snug Harbor will pay his bills, and if Buttolph considers him cured and able to return to his family, he may do so.
