Abstract
Handwritten letter from S. W. Jones, M.D., of Hyde Park, Dutchess County, N.Y., to Captain Thomas Melville, on behalf of James Morgan, an inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor who became ill during a two-day furlough visiting friends and, after recovering, has been working for Dr. Jones's father, Reverend J. W. Jones. Dr. Jones asks Melville to extend Morgan's leave until the following spring. A notation on the back of the letter states that it was answered on August 4.
