Abstract
Handwritten letter from Mrs. Lizzie L. [Elizabeth Luce] Ames, requesting information on the health of her husband, Alonzo [C.] Ames, as he writes her that his health is improving but she believes that it is not. She asks that he not be told about her letter. Received while Captain Thomas Melville was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor.  In the upper left corner is an embossed seal with domed buildings and the header "CONGRESS" and the paper appears to have been torn from a larger sheet.
