Abstract

Handwritten letter from William Blake, Superintendent, Out Door Poor Department, Department of Public Charities and Correction, New York, N.Y. to the Governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor, regarding an individual named George Davidson, who claims that he was expelled from Sailors' Snug Harbor for being drunk. Blake explains that his department has cared for Davidson, that he believes Davidson to be genuine in claiming that he will behave better, and asks if Davidson can be readmitted to Sailors' Snug Harbor. Received while Captain Thomas Melville was governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor.
