Identifier

Abstract

Handwritten letter from J. Gardner, to Captain Thomas Melville, regarding Mr. J. [John] Endicott not receiving a reply to his letter to his brother yet. Gardner states that Endicott has been busy with his daughter's wedding and may have overlooked it, but is still awaiting a response. The not on the back of the letter, made presumably for filing purposes, notes that this letter is in reference to Mansfield but no direct reference is made in the letter itself. [Cataloger's note: This Mansfield may be the same John Mansfield that is the subject of other letters from Endicott to Melville in the Sailors' Snug Harbor collection.]
