Handwritten letter from Horatio T. Hervey to Dr. Charles Henry King, recommending August Castine [see note] for admission as an inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor. He has worked for Hervey's organization as school janitor for several years. Received while Captain Thomas Melville was governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor. A notation written in blue pencil perpendicular to the letter's text states "Re-admitted and sent to Hospital July 1, 1882."
