Handwritten letter from R. B. [Robert Bennet] Forbes, of Sailors' Snug Harbor of Boston, to the Superintendent of Sailors' Snug Harbor, regarding man named George W Bowle, [name unclear], who has recently entered the Harbor in Boston on probation. Forbes has learned that the man was at the Harbor on Staten Island, and is writing to get all the information on him that the Staten Island Harbor has. The annotation on the back has a different name to the one on the front, reading G. [George] W. Balls. Received while Captain Thomas Melville was governor of Sailors’ Snug Harbor.
The collection is on permanent loan at the Stephen B. Luce Library of SUNY Maritime College. The Sailors' Snug Harbor records are the Property of the Trustees of the Sailors’ Snug Harbor.
