Abstract
Handwritten letter from Richard Sides, of the ship Andrew Jackson, [presumably to Sailors' Snug Harbor], regarding the fact that Sides and the ship, Andrew Jackson, will be arriving [in New York?] later than expected because of delays while in port elsewhere, [Calcutta?]. He asks for his liberty to be extended until October 1, at which time they expect to have arrived. Received while Captain Thomas Melville was governor of Sailors’ Snug Harbor.
