Abstract
Telegram from H. [Horace] A. Buttolph, of the New Jersey State Asylum for the Insane to Sailors' Snug Harbor, informing Snug Harbor about the death of inmate Daniel Drew and requesting directions as to what to do with his remains. Attached is a New Jersey state transit permit authorizing the removal of Drew's remains from the Asylum to New Brighton for burial, signed by Thos. [Thomas] M. Peck, Assessor, and in the charge of A. McIlravy. The two forms are adhered in the upper left corner. Received while Captain Thomas Melville was governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor.
