Abstract
Letter from Captain Thomas Melville, governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor, written August 28, 1883, stating the contents of "your late father's effects." Below it, in a different hand, is an undated note signed by G. [George] W. Cook, presumably in reply, stating that he wishes his father's watch to be sent to the New York office of Sailors' Snug Harbor, where he will pick it up, and to have the rest of the belongings distributed where they will do some good. [Cataloger's note: Based on dates, Cook's father may be Albert Cook, d. 1883]
