Abstract

Handwritten letter from James Warren, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor, explaining that he has been working as the watchman for Edward Ridley & Sons since 1883, with Captain Thomas Melville's permission, and whether he is still eligible to return to the Harbor. If so, he would like to extend his leave, as long as he is able to return if his condition worsens in that time. Received while Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor.
