Identifier
SC-0016-I-D-1-B-060
Abstract
Report of Moses Tappan [Tappen?] regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of James Kent. He explains that Kent had been drinking and appears to have fallen into the water. Tappan explains that he sought help from Mr. [James?] Tibby's family and informed Mr. Sherry that Kent had drowned upon his return to Sailors' Snug Harbor. Written while Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor. [Cataloger's note: The report is undated but James Kent appears to have died in 1885, so presumably this dates from after his date of death, March 16, 1885.]
