Abstract
Handwritten letter from an inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor who intentionally identifies himself only as D. D. D., to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, explaining that he has read an article in the World of November 17, 1886 in which Trask expresses his interest in hearing suggestions from the inmates. The writer states that many of the inmates are elderly and that as they get up quite early, the rooms are cold and the inmates struggle. He states that in previous years the steam was turned on earlier, so that this was not a problem, and asks that this happen again.
