Handwritten letter from James E. Cole, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, mentioning that Trask had told him he needed to be at the steward's office [upon returning from leaving the Harbor] by 5 pm in order to receive his dinner and that the day of the letter he returned before 5 and was not permitted to eat.
