Abstract

Handwritten letter from Richard Dayas, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, explaining that he has a letter of introduction from a man in New Bedford to C. S. [J.?] Mallory, of New York, soliciting a position for Dayas on a steamer, dock or office. Dayas states that he would rather be out in the world than working in the reading room.
