Abstract
Handwritten letter from James O. Elliott, former inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor writing from the Hudson River State Hospital in Poughkeepsie, stating that he wants to be discharged from "this horrid Hole" and that he does not ask to return to the Harbor, just to be discharged from the Asylum, as he is of a sane mind. Received while Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor.
