Abstract

Handwritten letter from Matthias C. Foster, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor, explaining that he and "Stilreiman" exchanged words the previous night and apologizing for the incident. Received while Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor. [Cataloger's note: The note itself is not dated but the notation on the back includes the date of April 1888.]
