Abstract
Second copy, handwritten, of a letter from John P. Wilkinson, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to Louisa Hammond, the Harbor's matron, complaining that Hammond had been harsh with him when Hammond came at the instruction of the steward, Mr. [Joseph K.] Clark, to turn in old underclothing so that he could get replacements. Wilkinson also includes a note to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, apologizing for an incident that had occurred with regard to Hammond's life insurance, confirming that Dr. [Henry DeWitt] Joy had confirmed him to be well, and asking for intervention on the matter of the underclothing.
