Handwritten letter from Edward K. Osborne, inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor, to the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor, requesting that he sign an enclosed paper, as he needs a rest and wishes to visit his relatives. Received while Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask was the governor of Sailors' Snug Harbor. [Cataloger's note: The note itself is undated but the notation on the back gives the date as December 31, 1888.]
