Abstract

Handwritten letter from A. Pearson, wife of Sailors' Snug Harbor inmate Israel Pearson, asking Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask to pass on the enclosed item(s?) to her husband. She explains that he left her without a penny five years before and that she had paid his way on a ship, then later learned that he was at the Harbor. She asks Trask to let her know if he dies, so that she will know when she is free. She asserts that Jules [?] Lawrence knows her and will tell Trask that she is a respectable woman. [Cataloger's note: The letter is undated but is filed in the Jul - Dec 1889 folder.]
