Handwritten letter dictated by Frederick Pratt, former inmate of Sailors' Snug Harbor and written by his nephew, John J. Pratt, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, explaining that Frederick Pratt spoke with Captain Ambrose Snow to ask about readmission to the Harbor and Snow told Pratt to contact Trask. Pratt explains that he was not permitted in the gate when his suspension ended on September 6 and that he then returned to New York. He asks Trask for a note to be sent to Snow.
