Handwritten letter from J. H. Miles, engineer at Sailors' Snug Harbor, to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, describing an incident reported by Officer Kubler about a Harbor inmate chatting with women at the gate, even when the officer told them to disperse. After a second incident, Kubler identified George Peirce as the inmate in question to Captain Webb. When Kubler spoke to Peirce and asked him what he thought of the possibility of having a new governor, Peirce expressed hope that this would happen. Miles asks Trask to prevent Peirce from being permitted to go down to the gate. Type Of Resource
