Abstract

Handwritten letter from Benjamin J. Edger [Edgar? Edges?], to Captain Gustavus D. S. Trask, recommending James Stewart for admission to Sailors' Snug Harbor. Edger states that Stewart speaks highly of Trask and the Harbor and promises to behave if admitted. He mentions that he was a sailor himself and saw Trask in Staten Island, and states that he knows James Gordon and John T. Blatchford.
